Light Up Lancaster (LUL) is an annual festival which takes over Lancaster every year and through a family-friendly trail of discovery, you can enjoy the transformation of the city into a magical installation of light. Catch free performances dotted amongst secret squares and well-known buildings, and experience captivating light projections, amazing performances, music, dance, film and fireworks.
After being in LYDC myself and performing at LUL many years ago, I’m excited to have been invited back to Ludus as an artist in residence to collaborate with LYDC Juniors, Borderlines and other artists/filmmakers to make a shop window installation, which explores the theme of Flights of the Imagination! Through our creative process together, I really wanted to push our dancers to not only use their imagination but to challenge the passers-by/audience’s imagination too. I don’t want to reveal too much but working with the dancers has so far been an incredibly enriching experience as they’ve pushed creative boundaries and immersed themselves into this world.

I’m so excited for us to share what we’ve been working on with you. To catch your amazing young people live and making magic, come along to our shop window on the evening of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th November (5pm-7pm). The shop window can be found next to Gregory Williams Butchers and opposite Market Gate, down James Lane, which is just off Penny Street.
Make a full evening out of it on Saturday 6th with fireworks being shown over the castle. However, if you can’t quite make it, don’t worry… for the 3 weeks following Light Up Lancaster, we will be projecting our young people into the shop window so you can still catch their wonderful work!
