Ludus Dance announces changes to our organisation as we adapt to the changing world. Finding new steps and new moves to develop and nurture creativity; giving children and young people the opportunity to engage with art, inspiring them to create and empowering them to embrace change.
The outgoing CEO, Anthony Briggs leaves us to explore new opportunities with a renewed creative focus. His departure was planned prior to the Coronavirus outbreak but the uncertainty of the current times has meant postponing recruitment. Our Board of Trustees have appointed Kit Abramson, our existing Artistic Director and Development Manager to cover the CEO responsibilities in the interim. Kit joined Ludus Dance two years ago. She brought a wealth of knowledge and skills having worked across many sectors, leading teams of creative professionals within arts organisations, higher education and commercial enterprises.
During unprecedented times, Kit will oversee the journey ahead, “The social value of culture is hugely significant, now more than ever. As the general public adapt to a whole new set of behaviours in the public realm, they are guided by the vinyl footprints stuck to supermarket floors, acutely aware of the distance between one another. We are finding new ways of putting one foot in front of the other and navigating the future of dance.” Fostering creativity and resilience, we have already launched a safe, participant focused online Studio Programme offering a truly interactive experience, with fully qualified dance teachers. The plan is to further develop our offer to incorporate outdoor dance as the lockdown restrictions are slowly rolled back. The focus for Ludus Dance remains to introduce children and young people to dance, no matter of background or experience. Kit says “taking our practice from physical space to a digital sphere, engaging & adapting we continue to celebrate togetherness making new work, collaboratively and closely with children and young people”
In these ever changing times, Ludus Dance are moving to make art that matters, with creativity and resilience.
