Exploring science from a physical angle, PERFECTING EUGENE explores the ethics and morality of human genetics.
This teaching pack offers numerous practical dance workshop ideas across Key Stages 2-4 and post 16, which helps students physically express their understanding of human genetics.
The teaching pack is also designed to stand alone as a resource for teachers interested in developing dance within the school environment, linking closely to the National Curriculum Guidelines for Dance.
The workshop ideas are for use with pupils aged 8 years and above (KS2, KS3 and KS4), but can also be easily adapted for work in youth centres, after-school clubs, youth dance and theatre groups.
Aims of the Pack
- To further develop knowledge and understanding of issues related to human genetics raised in the performance of PERFECTING EUGENE.
- To enable teachers and students to use dance as a medium for expressing their views, ideas and feelings based on the themes relating to human genetics.
- To develop dance skills, creativity, performance and appreciation.
- To stimulate debate and discussion, relating to human genetics, through the PSHE activities.
