We asked Queen Elizabeth School students Annabel and Patrick to create something which captures their week of work experience with Ludus Dance…
Annabel wrote a beautiful reflective blog post and Patrick performed and edited a fun rap!

My Time Here at Ludus
My name is Annabel and I have spent the past four days experiencing work life at Ludus Dance
Company.
Day1
On my first day here, I arrived at 10am where I was introduced to Sophie and Rachel, who would be
supervising me for that day. I was taken on a tour of the whole building and show where the toilets
were and where to go if there was a fire etc. After that I did a research task to try and find out as
much as I can about Ludus via their website and social media scouts e.g., Instagram. I learnt that it
was created in 1975 and it is a charity. I developed the skills of patience, resilience and researching. I
had to preservere when I couldn’t find the answers straight away.
Day 2
I started later today (1:30pm) and my first task was to plan a dance class for a class I would be
helping to deliver later. We came up with a warmup game, a technique phrase, and some
choreography to add into a piece that the class had been working on. Wet then walked over to the
Gregson and taught three classes. The first one was for toddlers, and it was non-verbal, so the
children just copied the adults, and it went well. I found that the 2 nd and 3 rd classes a lot more
difficult and I was shocked by my lack of confidence. At one point I sat out because I got a bit
overwhelmed, but I got back involved shortly after. I developed the skills of planning and being in
control as well as being energetic to keep the kids engaged.
Day 3
This day was all about learning about the marketing side of running a company. We learnt about
“The Night People” project and we thoughts about how we could advertise it through social media
platforms like Instagram. We made lots of notes and created mood boards which we then put into a
poster type thing. We had to think about things like font, text size, colours, and backgrounds. I think
I developed skills in listening, independence, and marketing.
Day 4
Today we have been reflecting on my work experience week as a whole. We have been thinking
about a way to present everything we have done. I chose to do a written blog and Patrick is making a
video that goes hand in hand with this blog. I have developed the skills of presenting and reflecting.
I have really enjoyed working with Ludus this week and seeing what goes on behind the scene of a
dance company.
