State of Flux 2.0

Funded by BBC Children in Need, State of Flux 2.0 uses the arts to support soft and hard skills development, reduce social isolation and develop self -worth and aspirations in young people from The Cove (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service CAMHS), Heysham.

State of Flux is a unique developmental programme for young people to play in, be inspired and experience positive ways of behaving, exchanging & relating with others through dance intensives where the young people experience their potential.

At Ludus we know that some young people grow up in complex environments. As they transition into adulthood these complexities can weigh heavy, impacting their ability to imagine a hopeful future.

State of Flux support young people to confront how they respond to complexities in a wholly supported and uplifting environment. Using dance as a tool to build resilience, young people emerge confident, happy and ready to work towards the future they want.

It is designed around a series of personal challenges where the participants agree to work individually and, in a group, to develop our dance skills and learn how to produce our creative ideas into a performance of your choosing. This could be a live dance, a series of short films or a gallery installation. At the end of the programme, you get to share your creation with an audience that you invite.

Through the programme the group works together, developing a variety of performance and production skills to realise their creative idea. Whether that's dancing, choreographing, filming or directing - there are many avenues in!

Working with professional artisits, young people from the Cove will take part in creative activities to develop life skills and technical abilities, providing positive pursuits that will support them now and in the future.

Over three terms they will learn about film, dance and music, working together to build resilience, improve communiction skills and rebuild relationships through weekly sessions on the ward, community sessions and sharing events.
