Power of the Outdoors

Funded by The Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Grants Fund (ran by Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Partnership and the Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust).

A creative dance and wellbeing project connecting young people through dance and film to natural environments to raise awareness of climate change and wellbeing through creative expression. This film celebrates 10 young people’s connection with the natural landscapes of Silverdale as they move, play and respond to how being outdoors can boost our mental health and wellbeing. Choreographed by two Ludus Emergent Dancers Kato Thomas and Rebecca Callow.

Funded by The Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Grants Fund (ran by Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Partnership and the Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust).

During a 2 day intensive, 10 young people from Morecambe travelled to Silverdale to explore natural landscapes through movement and play. Rebecca Callow and Kato Thomas (artists from our artist development programme) then choreographed, directed and facilitated the collaboration between their creative vision, the young people and the nature around them.

The participants responded to the natural environment, which in turn, allowed them to develop: confidence, teamwork, and environmental awareness. The inspiration gathered during the intensive contributed to the creation of this short film - celebrating the young people’s connection with nature and place.
