Tik Tok… Tik Tok… The crocodile’s coming for us all!
This weekend the clocks sprung forward. At a time when we are all longing to spring forward to another time without isolation, or fall back to a time without fear. You’re probably finding you’ve either got too much time, having had all your plans halted or not enough time as you fit in home-working, home-schooling and home-creating. You probably aren’t thrilled with the present.
Beth, our associate artist on the Occupied scheme has been developing her work with the concept of time. Focusing on the passing of time, “spending time, wasting time, making time, loosing time” more than ever we’re passing time, rushing through, getting to the next thing but are we ever actually in the moment, in the present? Looking backwards and looking forwards but not being, now.
Drawing on her own experiences and researching other people’s perceptions of time, Beth is creating poetry, reflecting on metaphors and choreographing movement to communicate time. Her progress has inevitably been … halted! But you can take the time to listen to Beth’s poetry here – Do I have time to tell you a story?
Beth is working on the next phase of her piece and wants to incorporate YOUR thoughts about time. Do you have the time? Could you answer these questions?
How are you wasting time?
How are you spending time well?
What’s your favourite time of each day?
What do you miss most now?
What do you value most now?
How are you spending time with other people?
Join in and build the piece by filming or typing your responses to the questions and send them via email to beths-p@outlook.com
