We have an exciting opportunity for young people to jump aboard our current Youth Dance Company performance project in collaboration with Night People. As part of LYDC’s choreographic intensive to create an outdoor performance with visual projections for Light Up Lancaster.
Night People is a professional dance company co-directed by Daisy Howell and Aaron Howell, that provides electric performances and immersive events for audiences through the power of cross art collaboration and mixed medium work.
Our performance will welcome others to our world of party, play and the otherworldly. Through the combination of dance, visual art and electronic music we will celebrate the rituals of escapism and the joy of moving together. A space to be bold, unapologetic and join forces on our exploration of a mass hype spectacle. In collaboration with the dancers, this project will be shaped and inspired by the people it encounters and their individual take on what it means to step into a world of euphoria.
As part of that project, we want to connect with other young people/groups and invite them to get involved in the process and performance itself where possible. Our first opportunity to get involved is for 15 young people (places offered on a first come first serve basis through Eventbrite bookings) to join us on the on Thursday 28th July 11am-4pm at the Media Factory in Preston (Kirkham St, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 2XY) to take part in a Night People Workshop that aims to film content for the digital landscape of the Light Up Lancaster performance. If you want to explore the digital realm of dancing and become part of an outdoor projection/dance spectacle, then sign up via Eventbrite below.
(There are limited places available and will be on a first come first serve basis but register your interest regardless as there may be more opportunities coming up). *The workshop if free but optional donations of recommended £5 are encouraged but not required*
